The book gives practice scales, discusses how to get different sounds like the growl tone or throat trill, how to play in the altissimo register (includes fingering charts for both alto and tenor), and gives examples of all of these on the CD. The book also includes a several page interview with Boots Randolph covering his opinions on everything from types of mouthpieces to his studio work
Also included in the book are transcriptions from several of Boots Randolph's songs. These are arranged for tenor saxophone, so alto players won't be able to play with the CD. As a little extra on the CD, they have performance versions of these songs by Boots, including his famous hit "Yakety Sax."
